ebb + flow :: basic

I posted a pic of my little fam to Facebook last night with the caption, ‘On Tuesdays we wear grey’ because I arrived home from work and realized Cole, Drake (obvi) and I were all wearing similar shades. Then I remembered that I wear grey on all the days. A lot. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I’m actually wearing grey right now as I write this. Clearly, I’ve found a staple. A basic that’s carrying me through the busy days and nights of late. Maybe I’ll mix it up a bit next week or maybe not, but for right now my basic wardrobe is serving me just fine. And, bonus, I always match my dog. Ha!

Life Lately

August 14, 2014

I’m sure you’ve noticed that things have been quieter than usual around here lately. My average five or six posts a week are down to a lone few. Trust me, I’ve noticed too and I hope to be back on my blogging game soon, but part of the reason for my silence lately has been a big project at work. Thankfully, after many hours of planning, coordinating, blood, sweat, tears and heavy lifting, the project, our back-to-school look book, launched last night! We partnered with local blogger, Davee Ek, and are pretty pumped about the results. A few of my favorite shots are below but follow along here for more behind-the-scenes shots and check out the book here! And now, a cocktail to celebrate. See you tomorrow, friends!

Food For Thought

April 19, 2011

I have a new post up on the faucethead blog today that you should check out. It’s all about food styling! I didn’t know much about the topic but once I got to reading I was pretty shocked by some of the methods used to make food look beautiful. Thankfully, lots of great photographers and chefs take a different, all natural, approach. I find that quite refreshing. Read more about it here.

Pinning Away

April 18, 2011

One of my favorite things about Pinterest is seeing how my style comes together. For me, I have a hard time describing my aesthetic but as I’ve been pinning the last few months, especially interior spaces, I can see some definite consistencies emerging. The collection of pins above just from the past few days is screaming white walls, black accents, clean lines and practicality. As I start to buy pieces in the future I can see myself referencing my Pinterest boards more and more. I never thought that would happen when I signed up, but it’s a definite perk and a tool I’ll be using for quite some time. Have you noticed any trends you’ve gotten into since you started pinning?

Shana Faust

April 6, 2011

I first came across Shana Faust‘s site on a mission to find the creator of that yellow dress in the top photo. But as soon as I hit her homepage I completely lost track of my search and dove right into her beautiful styling work. Through the past couple years, and my whole life, I suppose, I’ve been collecting odds and ends, trinkets, antiques and memorabilia and sometimes I find myself staring at it trying to make sense of it all. How can I display and showcase each piece beautifully for everyday life and the occasional photo? None of the pieces really match but it’s all important. For that reason, I’ve really started to admire stylists and they way they are able to just make things work.

As I’m in the process of re-vamping my personal portfolio site and planning for a future home I think I’ll definitely reference Shana for inspiration. And I can’t get enough I’ll just stop by the inspiration section on her site. It’s filled with some web gems as well.

P.S. Shana has worked with EVERYONE I can’t believe it took me so long to put a name with this incredible work.
