If I tell you how old my go-to black pants are, you will probably stop talking to me. So, to say I am in need of new ones is the understatement of the century.
Enter: J.Crew’s MLK weekend sale. Thanks to an extra 50% off the sale section I snagged these beauties for less than $24 yesterday. Perfect length, great color, good fit, better price. Keep an eye on their site for another sale because you need them as well, trust me.

Life and work lately seem to be a series of daunting and never-ending deadlines. I’ve figured out the formula though, friends. An alarm clock set bright and early, Beats by Dre to drown out any distractions, a serious stash of cold Diet Coke to keep you energized, Pretty Lights on repeat and FitBit to make sure you move every now and again. So far, so good. Let’s hope this formula keeps powering me. It’s going to be a long few months ahead but I can’t wait to share the projects with you as they come together! Stay tuned.

We’ve hit the tipping point up here in Minnesota and I’m officially cold. So cold that I slept on the floor next to the fireplace last night. This is making me nervous for the 7 months of winter that are yet to even rear their head. If the Farmer’s Almanac is accurate, I’m hearing that it’s going to be a snowy one. Thankfully, I have a stash of cold day go-to’s below that have been keeping me company these last few days and will serve me well for the Minnesota winter to come.
1 :: Lamborghini Mercy Sweatshirt
The birthday gift that I can always find an excuse to wear.
2 :: ‘Melissa’ Leather Boots

3 :: Gone Girl
After all the hype last week, I still haven’t had a chance to crack this one open just yet!
4 :: Voluspa Maison Blanc Candle
Perfect scent for a puppy-dominated home.
5 :: Cally Minnetonka Moccasin Slippers
For early morning dog walks and cookie baking on the cold kitchen tile.

As one on a spending freeze should NOT do, I found myself on a site this afternoon having a major sale. Then, in a slippery slope of events, I spotted this floral gem and emailed it to way too many people asking their option. It’s way outside my usual neutral color palette but I keep coming back to it. Do I dare?

This months kicks off a summer full of birthdays at the Erickson household. Add Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to the mix, as well, and I start to feel like I’m hunting for a new gift every week. To save myself some hassle later I’ve rounded up a few items that would be perfectly topped with a bow. And, yes, that coat is a splurge, but it’s too pretty not to include.
1 :: Let’s Just Say It Wasn’t Pretty by Diane Keaton
2 :: Dash Salt and Pepper Shakers from Crate & Barrel
3 :: Inner Light Tinted Moisturizer by AVEDA
4 :: Orb Copper Shaker from Crate & Barrel
5 :: Deck Parka from HAVEN
6 :: Succulents from IKEA
7 :: Glass Shadow Box from West Elm
I snagged this little number the other day to hang in our office and was so happy when it arrived! Since I’m anti-hanging things, I’ll likely just clip it to a clipboard to display it or swap it for one of our hanger spots. We’ll see where it ends up for good but it was an easy sell for me. I’m pretty much a sucker for anything Roald Dahl-related and the little gold flecks don’t hurt either. Here’s to always looking lovely!

I got bit by the spring cleaning bug this weekend. It may have been a little premature since it was snowing again when I ran home over lunch, but I’m blaming the motivation on the fact that we just signed a contract to have our house exterior painted this spring! As soon as the snow melts, we are saying goodbye to maroon painted brick and dark grey trim and hello to a peacock blue door and grey accents. Alleluia! Can’t wait to share as the project unfolds. We’ve never hired any house projects out so cross your fingers for good luck and no more snow. Although, I’m sure we’ve been wishing the snow to stop for months already…
Have you guys started Christmas shopping yet? I’ve got a couple people checked off my list, but I’ve got a few more that are a struggle every year. If you’ve got some tough-to-buy-for friends and family, look no further than the faucethead creative gift guide for the creatives I put together this year. It has a good mix of quirky, cool, high-end and inexpensive picks. If you’re curious, I wouldn’t mind numbers 5, 17 or 15 (hint, hint!).

IKEA. A place that used to be a full-day trip has now become an after-work errand thanks to its proximity to my work and home. I guess that’s one perk of working for the largest Mall in the country! So today after wrapping up at the office, I’m making an IKEA run. Items on the list include a couple shelves, office storage, lighting and a clothes rack. Of course, like Target, you can never leave IKEA without adding a few totally unnecessary items to your cart. I’ll report back if I find anything great!
Super exciting stuff around here, friends. Super exciting.
I grabbed this scarf the other day at H&M and couldn’t help but notice the collection of adorable outerwear they’ve got in stock right now. Very easy-to-wear and, of course, cozy. If the cold weather is quickly approaching your neighborhood (it hit Minneapolis last week!), I recommend stocking up while you can still feel your fingers!
