I penned ‘moving on’ as the title for this post and now I realize how ominous that is. Sorry, friends, I’m not going anywhere. Just moving from the bathroom project (DONE!) to kitchen planning mode. Are you ready?? Behind the scenes, the Red Head and I have been scheming, planning, brainstorming, meeting with contractors, scouting IKEA, picking my father-in-law’s brain, and pinning ideas for our kitchen re-model. We’re still very much in the ‘how the heck are we going to pay for this??’ phase but it’s fun to dream about our biggest project yet. Can’t wait to see this come together. 2020, watch out.

After bedtime and during naptime, we’ve been doing our best to make some progress in our bathroom re-model. Like every project, it seems to be one step forward and two steps back but here’s where we are today. Wallpaper is in! Faucet and sink are at the stop getting fitted to the vanity countertop as we speak! And the light fixture arrived!
Ready for the two steps back part? I don’t think the wall color (that we just painted this weekend) is quite right now that the wallpaper is alongside it. Ready for more fun? That light fixture isn’t going to work. We need something with a larger backing to cover the wiring hole. So we’ve got some decisions to make tonight and some Thanksgiving festivities happening on Monday. Here’s hoping we at least have a working toilet in the space. Fingers crossed!

Though it’s become a lot harder than it used to be, the Red Head and I are still chipping away at house projects after bedtime, during naptime and during most moments of peace and calm inbetween. It’s slow going but we love it. Follow along here!

The Red Head and I have been chipping away at little house projects here and there this past month and it feels GREAT! We’ve got some finishing touches to put on our living room (why are curtains so difficult to find?!), we updated a leaky window well, and we’re slowly updating all our door knobs and hinges but what I’ve really got my eyes on is a bathroom re-model. I’m thinking a plaid floor might need to happen!

If anyone deserves a high five this week, it’s the Red Head. Between the dust, fumes, swollen ankles and fatigue I haven’t been in the basement helping with our re-model much at all. You can usually find me perched in bed writing baby shower thank you notes and frantically making to-do lists. Good news, though, we settled on a paint color for the basement living room (after our first attempt fell short). The winner? Benjamin Moore Northern Cliffs! Carpet is getting installed on Saturday, we’re moving some furniture on Sunday (I’ll be supervising) and I can’t wait for our first movie night down there. Bring on the microwave popcorn!

Welp, yesterday’s post was definitely foreshadowing. The Red Head and I are doing some electrical work tomorrow that could leave us without power for the night. Give me all the blankets, hot cocoa, warm fireplaces, and space heaters. That also means no Internet for a bit so I’ll catch you later this week when we’ve exited the Stone Age!

With only a few warm-ish weekends left in the year, the Red Head and I are on a mission to make serious progress in the yard this weekend. Between laying pavers, hauling sand, feeding the willing helpers (thank you, friends and family!) and digging trenches, I’m dreaming about our patio next spring and the addition of some cafe lights. I think they’ll be the perfect addition to our outdoor oasis!

I’m not sure if you’ve visited your local Menards lately but our location was having a killer sale on this tile the other day. With the basement bathroom re-model in mind we snagged a couple of boxes and haven’t looked back. Can’t wait to see it in action!

The Red Head and I are probably about a year off from finishing our kitchen and den but I am going to campaign for the next twelve months for a bold wallpaper to make an appearance, like my favorite above. I’ll keep you posted on the campaign every step of the way and follow along in real-time here!

Last fall, I scored some vintage theater seats for a steal and since then they’ve been moved into our new house and have collected dust in various rooms. I’ve got big goals to re-finish the wood and the threadbare seats and this image just might be the final inspiration I needed. Someone, get me a sander STAT!
