Weekend At Home

November 28, 2016

ebb + flow :: weekend at home

Despite the traffic jam we experienced yesterday, heading to Chicago this weekend was the perfect post-Black Friday therapy. There was an impressive brunch spread, an abundance of family traditions, an over-used selfie stick and lots of laughs. Also, wine. Plenty of wine. I’m hoping for more of all of those things sooner rather than later and hope you had a wonderful holiday as well!

Shout out to my nephew who snapped this pic with his finger covering half the lens. I love it!

ebb + flow :: memorial day

What a holiday weekend it was! A bit of rain, a lot of sunshine, hours upon hours on Lake Minnetonka, cocktails outside, Game of Thrones viewing with friends, birthday dinners for my Red Head and tons of good times with family and friends. To say it was hard to get up at 5 a.m. this morning to teach cycling would be a gross understatement but I did it and I’m here! And I’m skipping the weekend wrap up. The internet was the least of my concerns these last few days so I don’t have many links to even share. But, the most important news of all, today is my Red Head’s birthday! I’m off to celebrate him and convince him that all the cool 29 year-old’s like to go to bed at 9 p.m. Clearly, I know how to party!

Dear Sugar Radio

ebb + flow :: dear sugar radio

Construction season is alive and well in Minneapolis right now, making my commute an adventure every day, to say the least. One thing getting me through, and I’ve casually mentioned it here before, is my new favorite podcast, Dear Sugar Radio. Tune in and listen to Cheryl Strayed (author of Wild) and Steve Almond read listener-submitted letters and discuss the dilemmas described in each. I’m still catching up on previous episodes and have dug every single one. Report back if you have a fave I should skip to!

Back At It

ebb + flow :: back at it

After a short week in MN, I’m back on the road again bright and early tomorrow morning for another weekend in Chicago! The few days out of state will include a birthday celebration, a city visit, lunch with family, a wedding celebration and, hopefully, some sleep. This old lady and her annoying cold need to catch up on some Z’s. I’ll try and catch you Sunday for a full recap or just follow along in real-time here. Have a good one, friends!

Life Lately

ebb + flow :: life lately

The fact that the end of February is nearing has me in a tizzy. So much to do, so little time but we all know how that goes. I realized I hadn’t done a life dump (a la Instagram snaps) lately so I give you some recent scenes from my adventures and a little background on each:

Cycle On

January 18, 2016

ebb + flow :: cycle

If you follow me on ANY social media channels, you’ve probably seen me pimping out a new cycle studio in Minnetonka that I’m proud to be a part of. If you’re local to the Twin Cities, come ride with us this week for FREE. I’m teaching Friday and Saturday and would love to see some of your faces in the crowd as I blast the music and attempt to work the fancy lights! It’s going to be a good (sweaty) time!

Snoozefest

September 14, 2015

ebb + flow :: snooze ebb + flow :: snooze

The Red Head and I are about to embark on a very snoozy three months. Those three months will include a rigorous exam prep course (goodbye Monday-Thursday nights), a licensing exam and shoulder surgery. Lucky for me all of these un-fun items on the Red Head’s plate but unlucky for me is the fact that my partner is crime is going to be MIA! Time to dive into the stack of books I’ve accumulated this year, finish some final painting around our house before the temp drops, sort every drawer, cabinet and nook of our home and de-clutter. If you know me, you know I’m actually pretty pumped about the de-clutter part but it’s going to be a long and quiet fall at the Erickson abode. Bring on some happy hours with girlfriends, please!

These Scenes

ebb + flow :: scenes

Spring cleaning has hit our house a bit late this year and I’m in the mood to purge the excess clutter that has magically found its way to our basement, drawers and closets. If anyone needs 20 pens that don’t write anymore, I’m your gal! The process has been pretty painless so far but I keep coming back to images like these when I need a dose of inspiration. Give me those clean floors, clean lines and simple accents.

Four Days

May 29, 2015

ebb + flow :: four days

For a work week that contained only four days, they sure packed a lot of punch! Good news is, though, that we’ve made it to Friday. Temperatures are on the rise, it’s my favorite Red Head’s birthday on Sunday and I have all the ingredients for a Moscow Mule waiting for me at home. Cheers to that!
