I noticed the other day that all the art in our home is black and white. It doesn’t bother me but we should probably mix it up a bit. With our basement remodel on and popping (and seemingly never-ending), it seems like a good opportunity to get some colors other than white, black and grey up in frames. So I’m drawing some inspiration from pieces like Cesar’s above and scheming some bright pieces for our otherwise dark basement. Stay tuned.

I’m thinking this print might need to make its way into my home. Nick work, Joni Majer!

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been in holiday gift mode the last couple of weeks. I’ve already got half my list complete and am saving the major work for those Thursday night deals! If you’re looking for a gift that can’t be bought at a mall, though, allow me to introduce you to the work of my brother! He makes the most incredible home drawings using just good old fashioned pen and ink. I’ve given them as gifts before and they are a crowd pleader, to say the least. Oftentimes there are even tears upon opening! The holidays are sneaking up so email soon to get your custom piece!

Kelly‘s work stops me every time.

Art with a sense of humor is always a favorite of mine. And after the chaos of my life the last two days, this image seems more than fitting.

Between Beyonce traipsing around the Lourve, this article from Joanna’s site and the image above, I’ve got art on the brain. I think I’m overdue for a quiet afternoon at an art museum. Aren’t we all?

I could very well be the last person to know about this, but my cousin introduced me to BRIKA last week and, so far, I’m really liking what I see. I haven’t purchased anything yet (hello, spending freeze!) but I have a 20% coupon taunting me in my inbox. A few of my favorite prints are above. Have you heard of this? Am I the only straggler?

As someone who’s about to spend a lot of time schlepping around this weekend, I thought the sculpture above was appropriate and, of course, totally reliable. Who hasn’t called shotgun infinity?! Thankfully, I won’t have much competition since it will only be me and the Red Head on our car adventures, but still, shotgun infinity it always relevant and a serious badge of honor. I’ll wear it proudly this weekend as we hop between family dinners, birthday celebrations, happy hours and wedding receptions. All that fun in the next 24 hours. Buckle up, it’s going to be a wild ride! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, friends.

Cheers to the weekend, pals! It’s shaping up to be a great one, the highlight of which will definitely be a wedding tomorrow afternoon. Time to bust out the dancing shoes, try out some new jewelery and toast to two great friends. Catch you Sunday after I’ve had a chance to recover.
And, in case you were wondering, that image has nothing to do with this post. But it’s beautiful anyway!

Pinterest really is one of my favorite places on all of the internet. You never know what will pop up in your feed, what inspiration will fall in your lap or how many hours the site will suck out of your day. Today was one of those inspiration-falling-in-your-lap kind of days when I came across the work of Julie Cockburn. Her series titled ‘Flowers Gallery’ struck me. I could stare at the muted colors and abstract portraits all day.
