Fourth of July 2013

July 8, 2013

Photo dump straight ahead! Four day weekends tend to lead to Instagram overload and, between me and my sister, we were blowing up your feed this weekend. My apologies. Here are some of my favorites from the last few days…
ebb & flow :: fourth of july

I survived my first Fourth of July at Big Island. And I have the bruises to prove it.

That’s a Red Head & Braun sandwich (and a very gummy smile) if I’ve ever seen one.

Invitations are assembled, thanks 100% to my sister. I’ll post more details once I can stand to look at them again.

Speaking of sisters, the day mine gets married I am royally screwed. She has tackled just about every project I have thrown her way and only requests Diet Cokes in exchange.

Once the family arrived, we did some local sight seeing. Minnehaha Falls looks different when there’s actually water in it!

Another snap from Minnehaha.

Had to make a pit stop at Tangletown Gardens for the godmother. It’s definitely her type of shop.

Just for the record, ‘stock the bar’ wedding showers are a GREAT idea.

Happy Fourth of July!

July 5, 2013

ebb & flow :: fourth of july

I really like Minnesota. But, I really love Minnesota in the summer, specifically around Fourth of July. And, so far, this year has not disappointed. After spending about seven hours on the boat yesterday, my sister, the Red Head and I are a bit crispy in the sun burn department but ready for round two. Round two includes two more visitors heading our way, another afternoon on the boat, two wedding showers and a bunch more time with friends and great food. The perfect way to celebrate if you ask me. Hope you’re having a beautiful weekend and staying safe out there. Can’t wait to share a recap on Monday!

Gone Again

March 14, 2013

gone

It’s time again for another wedding weekend spree for me. I’m hitting the roads early tomorrow and heading to Illinois for three days of wedding meetings, projects, family and friends. My car is only half packed and it’s feeling pretty cramped. Maybe it’s the sheets of plywood, the easels, the vases, the clothing and the pairs of shoes (that always seem to end up in my back seat) that are making it feel that way. Just a thought. I’ll be sure to report back with all the fun DIY we’ve got up our sleeve, the creative minds we’re lucky enough to collaborate with and maybe even some tales from the road. Catch you when I return!

Business Cards from Alt

February 11, 2013

bcards

I’ve been sharing bits and pieces about my time at Alt on Instagram, Twitter and the faucethead blog but I thought I’d get organized and share a few of my favorite business cards from the conference here as well. Business card collecting, creating and dolling out is somewhat of a sport at Alt. There’s no shame in walking up to someone and asking for their card and handing off yours. It was pretty refreshing and, trust me, the cards are worth asking for. Some came with DIY greeting card kits, cupcake liners, jewelry, letterpressed prints, cookie cutters, the list goes on and on. The few above were some that caught my eye right away. Be sure to check out their blogs as well, they’re just as good as the cards:

Big Weekend

September 14, 2012

My week of travel is winding down but it’s about to go out with a bang. I’ve got a night in the city awaiting, my birthday tomorrow and my brother’s wedding reception tomorrow night. A grand finale, if I’ve ever seen one. Hope you have a weekend that packs as much punch and excitement!

Getting Girly

January 10, 2012

For Christmas I got the Red Head and his brother tickets to the Wild game tonight. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it turned out to be a gift to myself as well and I’m enjoying the quiet around the house this evening. So I’m doing what all girls do when they have a relaxing night, coding a website while watching trashy television. Total normal, right? Maybe I’ll paint my nails or something to add some more ‘girl factor.’

Success!

December 19, 2011

I chickened out and didn’t go to Target last night. Instead I video chatted with my lady love Michelle in Peoria. She had just hailed from Target and managed to get flicked off and harassed in the parking lot so I figured it best to avoid that hostile scene after a rather tranquil afternoon and successful weekend. Not so successful this weekend, though, was my picture taking. These were the only decent shots I had on my phone from our holiday party. One of the candy cane decor and the other of a cranberry syrup I was working on. I didn’t even get a photo of the cake from YUM. (Update: Just found one Twitter!) Trust that no one went hungry. I even had a smorgasbord of leftover appetizers for lunch today. Delish. I’m sure they’ll keep me happy until I fly home on Thursday and then I’ll have a whole new batch of cookies and appetizers compliments of Mom to keep me satisfied. Looking forward to it already!

Congratulations S + J

September 2, 2011

I’m dashing out the door, throwing on some red heels and toasting to a happy couple tonight. I can’t wait to see the Minneapolis skyline from the Dome of the Millennium Hotel and dance the night away! After that, who knows what the weekend holds but it’s sure to be a great last hoo-rah of summer. Enjoy yourselves and we’ll catch up next week. Until then…
