This is happening tonight and I’m not the least bit embarrassed. As a matter of fact, I fully intend to buy a T-Shirt to commemorate the experience. Jealous?
Also, in case you haven’t caught on, I’m clearly a big liar and still haven’t shared the big project I’ve been working on at MOA due to last minute tweaks and finesse. One day, though, one day. As Taylor would say, shake if off.

This week has been a hustle. As much as I enjoyed Monday away from the office, the four day work weeks still manage to pack a lot of punch, amiright? So I am looking forward to a weekend of celebrating the people in my life and unwinding a bit alongside them. This weekend we’ve got the Red Head’s birthday (!!), a stock-the-bar party for friends, some family time on Sunday and hopefully a trip to The Malt Shop to finish the weekend. We are way overdue for a chocolate malt (which is totally justified by walking the three blocks to get there… maybe.) and perhaps a cone for me. Whatever you’ve got planned for the next two days, I hope it’s great. Check back on Sunday and have a wonderful weekend, friends! Until then, I’ll be dreaming of cookies and cream in a waffle cone…

Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and the Save the Date collection in our home is bursting at the seams. That can only mean one thing, people: wedding season is upon us. In an attempt to not break the bank this summer dressing for weddings, I’ve been on the hunt for a few low-cost basics that I can dress up and down for rehearsal dinners, showers, weddings and other celebrations in honor of the lovebirds. So far, my favorite is this dress from the GAP. Definitely affordable and flattering, I’ve put this dress together two ways. Now I’ve got outfits for two occasions and only about nine others to figure out. Wish me luck!
Obviously, it’s easiest for me to shop at retailers that can be found at my place of work so these four retailers are often found in my wardrobe. Insider secret: Forever 21 has some pretty killer statement jewelry for CHEAP.
1 :: Long Cardigan from J. Crew
2 :: Denim Fit and Flare Dress from GAP
3 :: Glam Bib Necklace from Forever 21
4 :: Aldo Gligocien Pump from DSW
With my simple dresses, I often like to tie a chambray or plaid shirt around them for a new look. Let’s just call this denim on denim look what it is… Canadian tuxedo. I fully embrace that. Throw on a colorful nail polish and you’re ready to dance the night away!

This months kicks off a summer full of birthdays at the Erickson household. Add Mother’s Day and Father’s Day to the mix, as well, and I start to feel like I’m hunting for a new gift every week. To save myself some hassle later I’ve rounded up a few items that would be perfectly topped with a bow. And, yes, that coat is a splurge, but it’s too pretty not to include.

2 :: Dash Salt and Pepper Shakers from Crate & Barrel
3 :: Inner Light Tinted Moisturizer by AVEDA

See that disgusting face? That’s the face you make when living in a polar vortex and deciding to do a Polar Bear Plunge in frigid temperatures. It really, truly is one of the most unflattering photos I’ve ever taken but I just had to share. Oh, the things we do for charity.
The holiday tradition train has left the station, next up on the list tonight is 12 Bars of Christmas. If the windchill and temperature are any indication, we are going to need more than a few beverages to beat the cold. Seriously, friends, it’s frigid, take your breath away cold right now. Wish us luck and have a great weekend!

It took me a little while, but I’m finally in the Christmas mood and the house decorations are slowly coming together. I snapped this photo of our mantle the other day and realized that this might be the cheapest holiday decorating we’ve ever done. Let me break it down for ya…
- • Those stars and ribbon hanging from the top of our mirror are tree toppers from the dollar store. I just hung them upside down and affixed with red ribbon and tape to the top of the mirror.
- • This three glass hurricanes are leftover from our wedding and also from the dollar store.
- • The pair of wine glasses… you guessed it, dollar store. And the candy canes are leftover from last year (so if you come over, don’t eat them!).
- • The red garland, gold candles and greenery around the hurricanes are borrowed from family that’s out of town this holiday season.
So the truth is out, so far our decorations are topping out at about $8. I’m sorry I’m not sorry. Bring it on, Christmas, I’m ready for you!
Working in retail is… interesting around this time of year. And by ‘interesting’ I mean chaotic, stressful, draining, Diet Coke-fueled, exciting and exhausting all at the same time. So that leaves me feeling like a puddle by the end of the week. Thankfully I’ve got a weekend of fun to perk me back up! Tonight I’m catching a screening of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and tomorrow we’re attending Friendsgiving (what I’m hoping will become a new tradition!) with a gaggle of friends here. It’s sure to be a good time and I’m already looking forward to the turkey and stuffing. I’ll be sure to share the recipes I whip up for the big event. Whatever you’re up to this weekend I hope it’s a blast. Catch you on Sunday!
I casually mentioned it on Friday, but we got a sneak peek of wedding photos this weekend and I could not stop watching the slideshow. Literally, I watched in on repeat for periods of time I do not wish to disclose. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Brandon Werth you are a joy to work with and your talent continues to amaze me. I’ll share a full recap soon, but this joyous photo of my gal pal will have to hold you over until then.

With all the showers, festivities and events this summer, I’ve done my fair share of gift giving and receiving these last few months. One item I’ve really enjoyed picking out have been hostess gifts for those throwing me bridal showers. Above is a collection of favorites: Crate & Barrel mini bowls in shades of blue, flowers from the farmers market, zip pouch bags in various colors and oil and vinegar canisters from West Elm.
