It’s hard to sum up what life has been like for the last four months. My little loves (nicknamed the bug and the bean) came roaring onto the scene six weeks early, enjoyed a month long stay in the NICU, lived through two blizzards (rude, Minnesota…), met a very skeptical and very large big grey dog and changed everything about our lives. There’s no turning back and we’d never want to. As of April 2, everything is different and we feel oh-so lucky. Thanks for picking us, C&C.

Welp, after 33 weeks of indoor cycling, traveling, home renovations, and adventures, the twins and I are officially on bed rest. If you know me, you know this is going to be a pretty torturous time but I’ve got work to keep me busy (thank goodness for technology!), lots of Netflix recommendations, a library not too far down the road where the Red Head can get me the latest reads, a rekindled love of Sudoku and a pretty amazing support system. I’m not sure how things will be looking around here in blog land but I’m going to focus my energy on getting these babes stronger every day. So, for now, I’m kicking my feet up and living that bed rest lifestyle. See you on the other side!

After baby showers, registries and lots of list making I am armed and ready for a big day of pre-baby errands tomorrow while carpet is being installed. I’m coming for you, Target, Buy Buy Baby, IKEA and HomeGoods. I’ve got gift cards to use, exchanges to make, last items to check off the registry and a lot of coupons that will be put to good use. I’ve also got a back seat full of car seats that I’m still getting used to so hopefully I don’t buy too much because I’m running out of room in my CR-V! Wish me luck!

The last two weekends, the Red Head, babies and I have been completely blown away by the generosity of the people in our lives. There was a shower in MN with friends and family from across the country, a Beyonce-themed shower with friends that have become like family and a shower in Chicago (photos above) that brought together people from all stages of my life. It was really humbling to be surrounded by these people and feel the love and excitement as we prepare for this big (!!) adventure ahead. I’m not sure how we got so lucky but I can’t wait for the Erickson Twins to meet each and every one of these amazing characters. But not for many more weeks, please…

I’m packing up, grabbing the big grey dog and heading to Chicago this weekend for a shower with my hometown friends and family. I am so, so excited to see everyone and hopefully they’re not too bummed to miss out on green beer…
Catch you next week!

One thing is certain: our house is not ready for two babies to arrive. BUT, we’re doing our best and after the next couple weekends of baby showers I’m sure we’ll feel a lot more prepared, potentially a bit overwhelmed and definitely perplexed as to how two small humans can require so much stuff. If I had to guess, I think we’ll also be feeling insanely lucky and loved. I’ve got two showers this weekend and another next weekend so the fun is just getting started! See you on the other side, friends.

This week has been one of those weeks where it’s really sinking in that TWO babies are on their way. Maybe it’s the wrestling match happening in my abdomen every hour, the daily deliveries of baby odds and ends to the front door or the waddle that’s suddenly becoming my strut but I am FEELING it this week. Feeling the good, the bad, the anxiety, the uncertainty and the excitement. It’s quite the smorgasbord of emotions! Hopefully this weekend and some to do’s off our list will help me ditch a batch of the nerves, I would be just fine without those. Deep breaths…
Catch you on Sunday, friends!

I was sorting some files on my desktop the other day and found a nursery moodboard I created when we thought we were having only one babe. I chuckled a bit when I opened it! Having two cribs really changes things so goodbye to you cute couch (it’s going in the sun room/den) and you, credenza (babies will inherit our mid-century modern dresser that doesn’t hold nearly enough adult-sized things and the credenza will be used for our basement media console). It’s a work in progress and we’ve got a lot of get together these next few months but I’m excited nonetheless! Keep you posted as it all comes together.
