Signs of Spring

March 16, 2011

Today and tomorrow are shaping up to be fabulous weather around here. We’re talking high of 63 degrees and tons of sun. If my succulents had survived the winter I’m sure they would have been happy for the change in temperature, but unfortunately they did not. I’ll have to get another batch and hope they last year round Chicago. Until then I can just stare at these beautiful succulent escort cards. They make me want to throw a party ASAP.

I’d love to hear where you bought your succulents and how you made the escort cards, please?! I am considering making these for my wedding. Thanks so much!

Hi Jody! We bought our succulents from Amazon:

They say allow up to five weeks for delivery but they arrived in about three days! We bought the clear glass hurricanes at the dollar store:

We were able to pick them up in-store to save on delivery costs. We then bought black eye peas, split beans and chickpeas in bulk and “planed” the succulents. The succulents came in plastic containers that were actually small enough to just cover with beans so we didn’t have a big dirty mess when trying to assemble. Does that all make sense? Let me know if I can help with anything else. It was such a fun project and we’re so happy with how they turned out!

could you show the directions and size of kraft paper quares you used and how they were cut to wrap your succulents. I love them- we have a reception coming up soon that I would love to wrap succulents like yours.
    Thank you
